Space, an infinitely stretched black canvas, painted with the forms of iridescent gas clouds, galaxies, quasars, and other celestial phenomenon decorated with tiny pinpricks of light scattered across its surface. It was straining on ones imagination to try and comprehend the true vastness of space. To think that stars, which appear as little more than luminescent sparks, are actually giant balls of burning gas set trillions of miles away; and galaxies, those amorphous glowing blobs in the night sky, contained millions of those stars, many of which held life sustaining planets in their orbit. The thought could make even the biggest creatures f
"We now go live to our news helicopter in upper Mobotropolis," announced the newscaster over the television screen, speaking in an official voice, "where the ongoing assault from the forces of the infamous criminal mastermind, Doctor Eggman, continues..."
The scene quickly transitioned from a feline newscaster to what appeared to be an overhead view of the city of Mobotropolis, with the camera facing the streets below. As per the description of the newscaster, a large number of red, humanoid robots had formed a battle line at one end of the main road and were slowly making their way up the street, destroying anything that stood in their way.
Cosmo sat quietly on the couch in Vanilla's living room next to Amy, her hands folded in her lap as she anxiously kicked her feet back and fourth. Amy sat casually as she thumbed through a magazine, which she had picked up from Vanilla's coffee table out of boredom. Vanilla did similarly, looking through a book which she held in one hand, while sipping on a cup of tea she held in the other. Cream sat on the love-seat adjacent to the couch, giggling as she and Cheese played a game of rock-paper-scissors. It had been almost an hour since the broadcast of Eggman's attack on Mobotropolis had ended and Cosmo seemed to be the only one in the room w
Eggman was in disarray after his most recent battle with Sonic and his persistent team of allies. The fat scientist paced angrily across his laboratory floor as he reviewed the events of their conflict over again in his mind, trying to determine where the failure in his plan had been. Everything had appeared to be going perfectly at the beginning of their confrontation, or so it had seemed from Robotnik's perspective. With the utilization of his most recently produced Egg Hammer units he had managed to put the Freedom Fighters on the ropes, successfully keeping Sonic and Shadow at bay and crippling Knuckles beyond his ability to continue figh
A thin ray of sunlight pierced through Vanilla's living room curtains as it snaked its way into the house, casting itself over the couch and warmly caressing Cosmo's face. Cosmo began to stir in her sleep, shifting until her eyes finally opened. As the young petali wearily looked around the room, she quickly realized that all of her friends were still slumbering. It was not unusual for Cosmo to wake up before most mobians. Being a plant, she was often woken by the sunlight and was required to absorb a certain amount of it in the mornings before she could function properly. This was usually done before Tails had woken up simply by spending an
"This is outrageous!" Vanilla complained loudly, pacing the floor in front of the couch where Cosmo was currently resting, "Those girls should be ashamed of themselves, picking on someone half their age! What did they look like, Cosmo? I think their mother deserves a call!"
"Please don't, Miss Vanilla!" Cosmo pleaded, folding her hands over her chest while she rested, "I don't want to get anyone into trouble!"
"They attacked you, Cosmo!" Amy yelled, stomping around the room angrily as she tried to let off some steam, "If I had been there, I would have given them all good poundings with my hammer! They'd think twice before-"
"Violence isn't
Cosmo sat quietly on a hard metal lab table, waiting patiently as Tails gathered the necessary equipment to begin examining her unique abilities which she had just recently discovered. As fascinating as she found most of Tails' machines, she had never been very keen on being examined herself. The last time she had submitted to examination, they had found a bug implanted her brain; and although they had confirmed long ago that the bug had been destroyed with her original body, she now began to fear that Tails would find something equally horrible in his current studies. Nevertheless, she was determined that she would discover what her new abil
It was late at night as the moon shone high over Mobotropolis while all mobians slept peacefully in their beds. Nary a sound could be heard disrupting the night, save the few crickets and other night creatures bathing in the lunar glow. Within the Mystic Ruins, Tails slept peacefully, snoring softly as he rested after a trying day. Cosmo, however, did not sleep quite as soundly, tossing and turning in her bed violently as strange images plagued her dreams. Small murmurs escaped from the young seedrian's lips as she gripped onto her comforter tightly. In her unconscious state she began to see what could only be described as monsters, disfigure
Tails rolled over onto his stomach as he buried his face in his pillow, trying to avoid the sunlight which was now streaming through his open window. Despite it being late into the morning he still felt that he was not ready to wake up, feeling far too comfortable to move. As he lay there in silence he became aware of a light breathing sound coming from beside him. The fox shifted his weight and rolled onto his side, opening his eyes slowly as they adjusted to the bright morning sun. As Tails' vision cleared he was surprised to see Cosmo looking directly at him, smiling gently as she lay next to the fox. Tails was startled by this, shooting u
